In early November, Lyon hosted the Forum One Sustainable Health for All (OSH for All LYON 2025), a major international event dedicated to the “One Health” approach, which links human, animal, and environmental health. With a historic milestone approaching—the presidential “One Health” summit announced for April 2026—the forum reaffirmed Lyon’s pivotal role as a driving force behind this transition.
The forum opened on Sunday, November 2, with an official reception at Lyon City Hall, before continuing at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the WHO Academy. These initial sessions helped establish a unifying framework conducive to dialogue among researchers, policymakers, international institutions, and local stakeholders.
Monday, November 3, was dedicated to presenting the achievements of the One Sustainable Health Foundation’s various workstreams, complemented by several thematic roundtables. On Tuesday, November 4, poster sessions fostered direct, informal exchanges among participants. The SHAPE-Med@Lyon team participated with a poster and a booth, attracting numerous visitors from Europe and other regions of the world.
These varied formats made it possible to compare scientific, political, and operational approaches, while highlighting the diverse fields of application for One Health.
On Wednesday, November 5, SHAPE-Med@Lyon, in collaboration with the City of Lyon’s Health Department, hosted a side event titled:
“One Health for Cities, from ambition to realization? An immersive and shared experience.”
The aim of this event was to showcase the Lyon-based ecosystem dedicated to developing “One Health” approaches in an urban setting. It also provided an opportunity to explore a “glocal” perspective—drawing on the Cité Jardin de Gerland project—that bridges local challenges with universal questions regarding urban health.
At the opening of the OSH Forum, a video from the President of the Republic confirmed that the “One Health” presidential summit will be held in Lyon on April 7, 2026. In this context, SHAPE-Med@Lyon will hold its annual event on April 8, 2026, with the aim of showcasing One Health initiatives across the entire Lyon region.
Through OSH for All LYON 2025, Lyon demonstrates its ability to combine research, public policy, and international cooperation to develop concrete, sustainable solutions that benefit the health of both populations and ecosystems.
